About NewsOB
NewsOB is an English-language news platform covering Bosnia and Herzegovina, built to make local Bosnian journalism accessible to international audiences.
How it works
Articles on NewsOB originate from established Bosnian-language news sources. Our pipeline uses AI to translate and summarize content into English, making stories from Bosnia available to readers who don't speak Bosnian or Croatian.
Every article goes through human editorial review before it is published. A human editor reads, adjusts, and approves each piece — this "human in the loop" step ensures accuracy, appropriate context, and editorial quality. AI handles the heavy lifting of translation and initial drafting; humans make the final call.
Why we built this
Bosnia has a vibrant local press, but very little of it reaches English-speaking audiences. Important stories — politics, culture, sports, economy — stay trapped behind a language barrier. NewsOB exists to close that gap, giving the diaspora and international observers a window into what's happening on the ground.
Bilingual coverage
Many articles are also available in Bosnian for readers who prefer the original language. You can switch between languages on any article page.
Transparency
We believe in being upfront: the initial translation and summarization on NewsOB is AI-assisted. We always link back to the original source so you can verify and read the primary reporting. Our role is to make that reporting accessible, not to replace it.
