Academic Group Condemns Attack on Professor in Belgrade
The Academic Plenum strongly condemns the physical attack on director and professor Stevan Filipović in central Belgrade. He was attacked after filming a group damaging a protected building. Attackers took his phone, pushed him down, and physically assaulted him in front of witnesses and cameras.
The Plenum calls this more than a simple incident. It is a message for citizens to be silent. They note that previous unpunished attacks on Faculty of Dramatic Arts (FDU) staff and students led to protests. The Plenum demands police and prosecutors quickly secure camera footage, identify attackers, find the phone, and investigate motives and any political links. They fully support Professor Filipović and will not accept rule by those who believe they are above the law.
