Bosniak Committee Urges US to Clarify Policy on Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Bosniak Coordination Committee for North America sent four official letters to key US officials. These recipients included President Donald J. Trump, the US Secretary of State, the National Security Council, and the US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The committee, representing several Bosniak-American organizations, aims to protect US policy credibility and preserve the Dayton Peace Agreement in Bosnia.

The letters express serious concern over Bosnia and Herzegovina's political crisis, which worsened after US sanctions on Milorad Dodik were lifted. Dodik has repeatedly claimed full support from President Trump and the US administration. No official US institution has publicly confirmed these claims. The committee warns that such unverified statements can be perceived as official US policy. This could increase instability and damage US foreign policy credibility, especially its role as a Dayton Agreement guarantor.

The committee requested a clear public explanation from the US. They urged the Secretary of State to review the conditions for lifting Dodik's sanctions. They also informed the National Security Council that Bosnia's instability poses a security risk for the Western Balkans, potentially inviting harmful external influences. The committee asked the US Embassy in Sarajevo to publicly reaffirm US support for Bosnia's sovereignty and constitutional order, clarifying that only official US bodies represent American policy. The committee emphasized its initiative supports the rule of law and regional stability.
