Bosnian Prime Minister Questioned as Suspect in Major Corruption Case
Federal Prime Minister Nermin Niksic appeared for questioning at the special anti-corruption department POSKOK. Prosecutors questioned him as a suspect in the Spengavanje corruption affair. Investigators plan to issue an indictment soon.
The case also involves Federal Interior Minister Ramo Isak and former acting police director Vahidin Munjic. Other suspects include Niksic's chief of cabinet Arijana Huseinovic-Ajanovic, police officer Muhamed Ohranovic, Ervin Musinovic, and Mirela Bubalo.
The scandal started after authorities uncovered leaked text messages. The messages revealed discussions about targeting specific individuals in police investigations. Officials also discussed political appointments and shared confidential police information.
Investigators suspect abuse of office and influence peddling. Witnesses confirmed that Munjic was illegally appointed as acting police director. Evidence also shows political meddling in appointments at the public postal service BH Posta.
