Dodik Praises Vučić, Sparks Debate on BiH Cultural Heritage

Milorad Dodik, SNSD president, praised Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić during a visit to Janjski Otoci and Šipovo. Dodik stated that Serbia, under Vučić, has provided the most support for Republika Srpska, offering crucial material aid beyond mere symbolic gestures. He thanked Vučić for visiting and noted their plans to also visit areas of the Federation where Serbs reside.

Dodik contrasted current relations with past practices, claiming Serbian officials were previously "humiliated" by needing to visit Sarajevo before Banja Luka. He highlighted that Republika Srpska citizens now receive equal treatment as Serbian nationals for healthcare and education, a change he attributed to Vučić. Dodik stressed that "we are all Serbs," rejecting regional distinctions.

Dodik also asserted that a strong Serbia is viewed as a problem by some politicians in Sarajevo, who he believes desire a weaker Serbia. He argued that these narratives incorrectly portray a strong Serbia as an enemy to Bosniaks.

On the topic of cultural heritage, Dodik dismissed the concept of a "Bosnian-Herzegovinian cultural heritage." He claimed only Serbian, Croatian, and Turkish cultural legacies exist. Dodik characterized Bosniaks as a "young nation" that, in his opinion, has not yet produced significant cultural contributions. He also suggested the "one man – one vote" idea lost relevance after Donald Trump became US president.
