Srebrenica Survivors Maintain Decades-Long Call for Justice in Tuzla

Survivors of the Srebrenica genocide gathered again in Tuzla. They met on the Srebrenica Genocide Victims Square. This gathering happens every 11th of the month. They remember the crimes against Bosniaks in Podrinje. They also ask for justice for those responsible. They demand more effort to find people still missing.

Đula Kapidžić is one of these women. She lost her father, three brothers, and father-in-law. She is still searching for her husband, Dževad Kapidžić, and brother, Hajrudin Malkić. Kapidžić said she would keep searching for even one bone. This would allow her child to visit their graves. Kada Balta, from an association in Vogošća, also spoke. She confirmed many women are still looking for their loved ones.

Nura Begović, president of the "Women of Srebrenice" association in Tuzla, stated their goals. These goals are the same as 30 years ago. They want to find missing persons and identify them. They also want perpetrators to answer for their crimes. These monthly gatherings in Tuzla serve as a reminder. The search for the missing and the pursuit of justice are not finished. The Srebrenica crimes must not be forgotten.
