Paris Remembers Srebrenica Genocide with Peace March and Education

In Paris, France, the 7th Peace March and a commemoration marked the 31st anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide. Solidarité Internationale Bosnie-Herzégovine-France (SIBH-France) organized the event. Eric Pliez, Mayor of the 20th Parisian arrondissement, City of Paris representatives, and Višnja Lončar, Bosnia and Herzegovina's Ambassador, attended. Many Bosnian diaspora members and friends also participated.
The Peace March started at Place de la République. It concluded at the Srebrenica genocide monument in Père-Lachaise cemetery. About 50 people honored the victims of the largest crime in Europe after World War II. The monument, unveiled a year ago by Denis Bećirović and the former Paris mayor, is unique among major European capitals. It serves as a lasting symbol of remembrance. Names of victims to be buried on July 11 in Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center were read. Parisian authorities' presence confirmed their commitment to memory and fighting genocide denial.
SIBH-France also held an educational program with the 20th Parisian arrondissement council. This program, for teachers and students, focused on the Srebrenica genocide's history and memory. Speakers included Jean-René Ruez, a former chief investigator for the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, Professor Isabelle Delpla, and Bekir Husejinović, a genocide survivor.
To fight misinformation and historical revisionism, SIBH-France launched an online platform. This platform offers reliable information in French, based on international court judgments, historical sources, and survivor testimonies. The Paris events aim to preserve historical truth, share memories with younger generations, and strengthen the fight against genocide denial.
